Trio Show at Bar Next Door Tonight Dec. 5th

Tonight I’m fortunate to be working with two of my favorite instrumentalists in New York City – bassist Petros Klampanis and drummer Charles Ruggiero, at the cozy and intimate setting of Bar Next Door in Greenwich Village. The program includes some of my original compositions written over the years and trio renditions of my favorite jazz standards.

Telavana at Philadelphia Museum of Art July 18

I’m very excited about tomorrow’s show at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, since I’ve been writing some new compositions and arrangements and this band really breaths life into them.

Comprised of equal parts Cubans and Israelis, TELAVANA combines Timba, Soul, North African music and Jazz to create a lively mix of rhythms and textures bridging the musical spheres of the middle east and the caribbean. The Band features Dan Aran – drums, Paulo Stagnaro – percussion, Edgar Pantoja – piano, Dennis Hernandez – trumpet and Tamir Shmerling – bass. New Video – Duo with Tamir Shmerling

Here’s a video of our recent tribute to Nurit Hirsh at Beit Avi Chai in Jerusalem.

This is a duet rendition of Balada Lashoter (Ballad for the Policeman), the theme song from the classic Israeli movie “Hashoter Azoulay”

Tribute to Nurit Hirsh – Live Video Stream of Today’s Show

I’m really excited about today’s show at Beit Avi Chai in Jerusalem- a jazzy tribute to Nurit Hirsh who is perhaps the most prominent composer and  songwriter in Israeli history. Since the 60’s Nurit Hirsh has penned more than 1,600 songs, many of which became classic standards with multiple cover versions and were featured in films, radio, TV and theater. In the past few months I dedicated myself to writing new arrangements of some of my favorite Nurit Hirsh compositions, and the result is to be performed tonight in Jerusalem featuring Yonatan Voltzok – trombone, Nitai Hershkovits – piano, Tamir Shmerling -bass, Daniel Dor – drums and Raz Shmueli – special guest vocalist.

The concert will be video-broadcast live here:
