Yuniel Jimenez – tres / Edgar Pantoja – piano / Rafi Malkiel – trombone / Gabriel ‘chinchilita’ machado – congas / Nestor Villar – timbales / Jorge Bringas – bass

Tomorrow, May 10th Maite will join Los Hacheros and myself for a free concert at Lincoln Center’s Rubenstein Atrium at 7:30pm

Hong Kong

I recently got back in town from a week in Hong Kong with fantastic singer Bianca Wu and an ace band that featured Art Hirahara, Nick Hempton, Juancho Herrera, Jonathan Powell, Dan Aran, Evan Gregor and Paulo Stagnaro. We played three sold-out shows at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and it was an incredible experience. I really loved the energy of the city and the people there and I can’t wait to get back. Heaps of thanks to Bianca, Patrick Chu- the executive producer, and everyone who played and participated. here are a few pics from the trip:

Back From Assam

I recently got back from India and boy, was it a trip to remember! Master tabla player Kaushik Konwar graciously invited Israeli guitarist Yosi Levy and myself to come to his home state of Assam in the far northeast of the country for a trio concert. Apart from the wonderful performance at the library auditorium in Jorhat featuring the middle-eastern / Indian / jazz fusion music of Yosi Levy, we got to see some of the breathtaking countryside of Assam –  full of rice fields, tea gardens and tropical forests. We held a press conference for local journalists, visited an orphanage- where the kids sang for us and we played for them, as well as ancient Ahom dynasty temples and buzzing street markets. All in all it was an incredibly enriching experience and I can’t wait till next time. Here are some photos from the trip (videos coming soon) –
